The Pfeiffer fully magnetic bearing turbo pumps have been designed to meet the demanding needs of special applications. Electromagnets are used to hold the rotor electronically suspended in the axial direction. Because there is no direct contact of the rotor with the casing the vibration level is extremely low. Further advantage besides the absence of oil is the reduced wear and tear and freedom of maintenance. In the event of a power failure the magnetic bearing is supplied with power by the energy of the rotor.
